Save any reusable packing materials. Gather plenty of sturdy, corrugated cartons, packing paper, bubble wrap, sealing tape and marker pens, along with any furniture covers. Our supply shop has everything you'll need.
Be sure not to over/underpack your boxes. Using boxes of similar size will also make for easier stacking and organizing when placing items. Tape them tight! Dust particles can enter an improperly sealed box.
Your furniture is likely to be the bulkiest of your worries. Wrap standalone legs with bubble wrap or furniture covers to prevent scratching. Saving the plastic for your mattress/box-spring can prove useful during a move.
Label all boxes on all sides, trust us. Organization is key to retrieving your items hassle free in the future!
Empty dressers, cabinets, and appliances can provide ample storage for smaller items. Wrap smaller items in newspaper or bubble wrap to secure them. Think of all the room you could save!
Distribute heavy items across many boxes. For easier handling, limit the weight of all cartons to 30lbs. or less. Do not fill large boxes with heavy items such as books or magazines; instead, use several boxes for heavy items and place many light items in large boxes.
Tape all doors shut during transport. Clean appliances are always easier to move. Secure any movable parts with paper or bubble wrap for the move. Be sure to wedge the doors open for storage.
Pack books flat to protect their spines. Line cartons with plastic and fill empty spaces with packing paper to protect the physical integrity of your book collection. Consider distributing books in many different boxes to make them easy to move and handle.
